no time to see, in broad daylight,
streams full of stars, like skies at night.
no time to turn at beauty’s glance,
and watch her feet, how they can dance.
no time to wait till her mouth can
enrich that smile her eyes began.

ruffles…
i believe in dream time. i believe in taking the time to notice. my daughter told me a couple of weeks ago, “i feel it in my bones that i am going to be an artist”. it was a beautifully loaded statement that gave me hope. some of us carry around dreams, nurture and cherish and protect them with vigilance, and some of us do not know where to begin. at different stages in my life, i have known both. at seven, this child has a deeply held sense of who she is, what she loves, the things she wants to do with heart and talent and presence. she wears an eiffel tower charm around her neck “to remind me of my future”, she says. her life is starting to build before her like magic swirls of dust, moving together, gaining form. the best i can do for her precious spirit is tell her to pay attention, to listen, to be open to new ideas and voices and pictures, to create, to keep creating, to never stop. the time to play, to imagine, to wonder, to drink in the world, is essential to becoming. i will be watching, closely, with wonder.

I do love your B&Ws, but the softness of the color in the second one is just stunning!
Your daughter has the first part accomplished – the belief in herself.

Dreamy and beautiful. Love these Amy!
Traca said it best… and your images heavy in simplicity are nothing but wonderful.
I LOVE your work! Are you using actions? Your black and white photos are amazing. So is the color, I just love the vintage quality of them. They look like film, beautiful!
I love little ballerinas…so sweet. I especially love the color and lighting in the 2nd shot!
Amy, these are gorgeous. Your daughter is so stunning and the purity with which you capture her is perfect. You can see that she is beyond her years.
